She's one of my friends from DA!" Her: o.O (still isn't familiar with dA) ^^; Congrats on making it into a Tokyopop manga! ^^ Have a wonderful holiday season!

Moving to Florida huh? Well take care of yourself down there. Especially in Hurricane season. And remember to pack some warm clothing, it was in the 40's when I was down there for surgery two years ago.

I don't need to be taught anything...well, per se. I like my style just fine the way it is. I just wish I could draw action sequences, fight scenes, and just plain poses. All I can draw is character designs, and facial expressions. But I love my own style. I don't need to change that part... So I am not one of those people who think the books will magically make be able to draw. As it is, I look through my mangas and if they have a pose I would like to use on one of my characters, I will sometimes emulate it. But I don't want to always be copying.

I guess if I keep as I am though, constantly practicing with those moves, I will someday be able to get a feel for moves of my own. After all, when I first started drawing, I was copying Sailor Moon pictures and fan art, and it later evolved into my own style. I prefer big feet, small noses and rather skinnyish body types, and that is how my style looks. A little unreal and maybe cartoony, but I am happy with it (and my friends like it) so that's all I care about.

But I still would really like to draw action scenes... Ooh! And romantic ones... I really suck at those...

I never meant the "how to" books are a bad thing, infact i've bought quite afew lol the one on perspectives helped me quite a bit ;) what i meant was the books themselves won't teach you anything. they'll only give an insight into how that particular artist handles that affair(i think alot of people expect something magical from them like if they read 1 of the books they can suddenly draw, yknow?) if youve never copied from poses before then i guess it might look off. you might be nervous, but its something that'll flow more naturally with practice. heres a tutorial i found that might help. [link]

Yeah, I thought about getting people to do the poses I wanted to draw, but it might still look off, wouldn't it? (sorry, your comment came up on my list of new comments for some reason, and I was very confused... But now I understand!) Yeah, I guess the manga books would be a bad idea... Good thing I never bought any...

~Antz82:iconAntz82: Jul 11, 2006, 3:58:47 AM
er, i was talking to kit kak there(cakes from tp) Those "how to draw manga" books dont teach you anything. You need to have a keen eye of your own to do that on your own. They merely give examples and some good examples at best, but try put or copy any of those drawings from them books directly into your manga and it'll look off. Best way to draw something is to get a friend to do a pose or take a pic of yourself or buy a huge mirror to copy yourself from. The latest piece from my profile i sketched from a pic i took of myself from my mobile.
~envy-wrath:iconenvy-wrath: Jul 10, 2006, 9:54:39 PM
Well, I worry about them because... I can't draw action scenes or anything, and I am too cheap to go out and buy those manga books that tell you how to draw things... So, I don't think I could ever be a manga-ka... But thanks for the compliment!
